Our fully-trained staff is always friendly and available to help seniors feel right at home. My tour at Dominican Village was lovely. The staff who gave me the tour was very helpful. They have a whole list of activities, they have swimming because they have a pool, and they have bingo.

Founded in 1975, St. Dominic Village is a faith-based, non-profit, continuing care retirement community dedicated to Caring for Our Elders with the Compassion of Christ. St. Dominic Village is a member of the Texas Medical Center and a ministry of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Angel House provides housing for individuals and their families who are in need of an affordable, safe environment while receiving treatment at the Texas Medical Center. We serve approximately 300 long-term and 300 short-term residents, and 3,000 Angel House guests, each year. At St. Dominic Village, we offer Rehabilitation and Nursing Care for those who are unable to live independently.

It's an established senior community. It used to be a college and they converted it to what it is now. It has a large campus and it's secure.
The rooms were nice, but they do not have full kitchens or as many activities as other places I've seen. The dining area was nice, clean, and restaurant-looking, and the menu looks fine. It's wonderful and everything you could expect. They provide activities and three meals a day, and I have independence to do what I want. The food is great, and it's made by Luby's cafeteria.

Caring.com is a leading online destination for caregivers seeking information and support as they care for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones. This looked very nice on the outside, it is in next to a nunnery I think. There was a beauty parlor and cafeteria area. The apartment area was nice with a little kitchnette. We thought the area was very nice and clean. The neighborhood was not all that great though.
They also host a lot of different cultural activities. They provide three meals and nutritious snacks throughout the day. I didn't taste the food, but it looked well-prepared. The snacks are generally something like fruit salad.
SERVICES & AMENITIES
The two staff members that I met were great. They do transportation within 5 to 7 miles for medical on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings. They also occasionally take you to Walmart or a grocery store.
With the support of a team of therapists and nurses, seniors will be able to work on their individual goals at their own pace. Dominican Village is an assisted living facility located in Amityville, NY. Could you say a little more about it?
About St. Dominic Village
We have an experienced administration and staff that work continually to care for our residents. We were given a tour of St. Dominic Village. The facility was clean and had a family atmosphere to it. It's like an apartment, and the price was reasonable. The staff was very knowledgeable about the caring industry and aware of the importance of family involvement. The assistant director who took us for the tour explained to us about the role of the staff for the patients' care.
The building is clean and well maintained on the inside and outside. It’s a great place to have someone you care about live when they need help. Overall a very caring atmosphere.
They have life alerts for all of the residents in the assisted living facility. So if anything happens, they have someone on 24 hours duty. The staff who assisted me during the tour was excellent.
They do a live music with a band outside in the courtyard. I also went to their coffee shop. Dominican Village was referred to us for my mother-in-law.
